Volunteer State Model Aviators
President Jeff Breeden called the meeting to order at 19:09.
Club Officers Present: (4) Jeff Breeden, Lanny Coggin Sr, Gilbert Pitts, and JW Plummer.
Club Members Present (not including officers): (7) Lanny Coggin Jr, Newton Derryberry, Donald Hudgins, Wayne Kackley, Billy Kemp, John Rohde, and Eddie Teague.
There are currently 30 paid members. A quorum required 3 officers and 8 members. We had a quorum (when officers are counted in the total membership).
Minutes
Gilbert Pitts read the minutes for the December meeting. JW Plummer moved that the minutes be approved. The motion was seconded by Lanny Coggin, Jr and passed unanimously.
Announcements
President Breeden announced that we must pay the rent by the end of the month.
A race between Eddie Teague and Wayne Kackley is coming up soon…
Treasurer’s Report
The club had $.
It was reported that the club has not purchased the leaf blower yet.
It was reported that Dick Tonan donated $68 for an engine test stand.
Lanny Coggin, Jr moved that the Treasurer’s Report be approved. The motion was seconded by Newton Derryberry and passed unanimously.
Old Business
Fly-Ins
The Jim Bush Fly-In will be held May 1st. Jeff Breeden will donate a plane for the raffle. Darren Jarrell will print the flyers. Dick Tonan will need to get an AMA sanction number as soon as possible.
The IMAA Fly-in will be held June 5th. Jeff will talk to Dick about the concessions, but he wants to keep it very simple. Billy Kemp requested an estimate of the number of pilots so we don’t purchase too much food. Lanny Coggin, Jr. stated that we will need tailstops for the fly-in.
Lanny Coggin, Jr. moved that we offer to host the MTRCCA Spring Fellowship Fly-in. The motion was seconded by JW Plummer. 8 members voted for the proposal, Newton Derrberry voted against the proposal, Billy Kemp and John Rohde abstained.
New Business
Swap Meet
We should receive $440 from the swap meet.
Gas Grill
Wayne Kackley suggested we purchase a gas grill. Eddie Teague stated he has a brand new grill that he would consider donating, then he decided he would donate it!
Club Trainer
Wayne Kackley will donate a high-wing trainer. Lanny Coggin, Jr. will donate an engine for it. Wayne will store the trainer and bring it to the field.
Airfield Fencing
Newton Derryberry stated that we would have to replace the black barriers soon.
Fertilizer& Lawn Mowing
A discussion of fertilizer for the runway was started. It was stated that we should fertilized the pits and runway. Lanny Coggin, Jr. moved that Wayne Kackley purchase 10/10/10 fertilizer for the field; spending up to $200. The motion was seconded by JW Plummer and passed with Billy Kemp abstaining.
JW Plummer stated that the field was not completely mowed last year. The field is much narrower than it should be. Other members stated that the grass was too wet when the field was mowed, putting undue wear on the mower. President Breeden proclaimed that the entire field must be mowed in the coming year.
Wayne Kackley stated that he wanted to get the old mower from Mike Winnaught so that he could repair it.
Shack
Billy Kemp asked that the club build a shack.
